The Best Writing Advice You Will Ever Receive

The time to start writing is now. You’ve talked about it for years, but you never seem to find the time to actually do it. The ideas in your mind have been churning, but you just can’t seem to get them onto paper.

Stop putting it off and write! Do you have five minutes to spare? Jot down a few notes. Write a sentence. Write a paragraph or two. Just do it! What are you doing still reading this? I told you to go write!

Ok, since you’re still here I’ll keep talking. It took me eight years of jotting notes and saying “if I ever write that novel” to finally sit down and put it into a readable form. So in honesty, I could have written my first book nearly eight years ago. I certainly had all of the information and a lot of scenes already written. I just hadn’t made the time to put all of those things together to create a novel.

The best habit you can create is taking time to write each day. Even if you’re scribbling on bits of paper or typing on your phone, you should be writing. Don’t let those ideas go to waste. Trust me, you won’t remember to write them down later. I know you’re busy, but if this is something you’re truly passionate about, you really should make time for it.

I know what you’re thinking. What if the story you want to write isn’t any good? Well, who says it isn’t good? Are you really that concerned about how your book will be perceived? Write because you love it, not because you want to make a fortune. I doubt my books will be appearing next week on any bestseller lists, but that doesn’t concern me. I write because I enjoy it. I love putting the world I’ve created down on paper, and I like sharing it with other people. Not everyone is going to like what you write, just like you don’t enjoy everything you read. It’s not a big deal, and it shouldn’t keep you from writing.

Still here? Didn’t I tell you to get started writing? Yes, I did. Do it now, don’t keep waiting. Let the words flow and follow your dream.
