It occurred to me that some of you might find it interesting to read about the hobbies writers have that don’t involve writing. I know I enjoy seeing my favorite authors doing something other than being chained to their writing desks. My own hobbies include a variety of activities, many of which take place outdoors. Today, I am showing you what I’ve been up to for the past few months.
Raising ducklings and goslings! How adorable are these little guys? There are six ducklings: two Pekins, one Welsh Harlequin, one Khaki Campbell, one Cayuga, and one Rouen. There are also two goslings: one white Chinese, and one gray African. On a side note, I looked around but could not find any in my area to adopt. Adults would have been my preference, but the babies are so cute that I couldn’t possibly resist.
These little quackers love to eat! They are especially fond of meal worms, which are given as a treat. They also enjoy fresh dandelion greens, which seem to have taken over my yard this year.
The gray goose simply loves me. From the beginning, he has been the most tame and easiest to handle. He’s a real sweetheart and cuddle bug.
They took quickly to water at only a couple of weeks old. They’re already diving and having a blast in the tub.
This is how those tiny little ducks look today.
And yes, I have been writing in the meantime. 🙂
